I was wrong about my dark circles for ten years
I'm 57 and I have never once left the house without concealer under my eyes. This is my honest twelve-week on the salmon DNA everyone's posting about — including the month where nothing happened.

Week 0
Week 12
My own photos. Unretouched. I'm not a dermatologist and this is one person's experience — yours may differ.
The circles are the first thing I deal with every morning and the last thing I check before a photo. Bluish-grey underneath both eyes, worse on the left, worse in winter, and worst of all in the hour after I wake up. People have been asking if I'm tired since my thirties, and at some point I stopped correcting them.
Did Salmon DNA actually work?
Then I did the boring thing and took a photo every Sunday in the same light.
Week 1–2
Day one, I sat and waited for the sting. It didn't come.
No stinging, no puffiness, no milia — my real fear with anything used that close to the eye. It sank in fast and didn't creep. I did wonder what I'd bought.
Week 4–8
My concealer started behaving — then I started using less of it
The first change wasn't the color, it was the skin. It stopped feeling papery, so concealer sat flat instead of settling into the crease by 11am. Then I noticed I was using about half as much, because there was less to cover

Week 8
Week 8–12
The bluish shadow lifted — and I went out without concealer.
Not gone. Much lighter, and less blue, because there's more skin between the world and whatever's underneath. My under eye became plump and my overall face is smoother and has a brighter complexion.

Why I tried Salmon DNA anyway
I'd been through the obvious answers. Caffeine eye creams, which do something for about an hour. Vitamin K, vitamin C, a peptide gel in a very small tube for a very large amount of money. Cold spoons, cold rollers, sleeping propped up. Two different color-correcting concealers.
◆ What sold me on the idea
Most of my "dark circles" weren't pigment at all
Here's what nobody had explained in fifteen years of buying eye cream. The skin under your eyes is the thinnest on your body, and it keeps thinning as collagen drops. Underneath it sit blood vessels and muscle, which are dark. So the skin has become too thin to hide them — which is exactly why brightening products never touched mine, and why concealer only ever half-worked.
Salmon DNA goes a level deeper. From what I understand it doesn't sit on the surface or bleach anything — it signals your skin to repair itself and build collagen, so the skin under the eye gets thicker and firmer.
What I liked, and what I didn't
No product review is honest without the second column, so here's mine.
Genuinely liked
The bluish-grey shadow is visibly lighter, bare-faced.
I use about half the concealer, and some days none.
The skin stopped feeling thin and papery under my eyes.
No stinging, no puffiness, no milia.
It's four seconds. Lightweight, silky without any irritation.
Didn't love
The first month is uneventful. No drama in either direction.
The hollow itself is still a hollow — that's structure, not skin.
How much effort is it, honestly
Four seconds, morning or night. It's an ampoule, so it's thin and it sinks straight in.
What I actually did
1
Cleanse as normal.
2
Apply to all target areas — forehead, under eyes, cheeks, nose and neck.
3
My normal routine after; serums, vitamin c, moisturizer and SPF.
4
That's it. No ten-step ritual, it actually eliminated some products in my routine.
Is Salmon DNA worth your money?
It isn't magic, and I'd rather you hear that from me. The hollow under my eye is still a hollow; that's the shape of my face, and no bottle changes bone.
For a month it did nothing at all, and I felt stupid for buying it. But here I am, still using it and in love with it, which is the most honest endorsement I can give.
I won't pretend it's cheap, but it costs me less than the products it replaced. Trust the process and if your face tells you I'm right, you won't want to stop at twelve weeks. I'm six months in now and the bottle has a permanent spot in my routine
The one I used
YURSLF PDRN Ampoule — 50,000 PPM, real salmon-derived PDRN
This is the exact product in my photos above. It takes is four seconds daily, and it also quietly shrank my routine. Fewer steps, and less money than the stack it replaced.

Nobody has ever told me my circles might not be pigment. I've been buying brightening eye creams since 2011 for a problem that was apparently thin skin. Week 7 and I'm using noticeably less concealer

Also the concealer creeping into the crease by 11am — I thought that was my technique. Apparently it was my skin.

Appreciate the honesty about the hollow. I've been quoted for tear-trough filler twice and I'm not doing it. Eleven weeks in, the shadow is lighter and my under-eyes don't look crepey — I'll take that.
